Sailing Days
District Scout Groups and Explorer Units have days allocated at Great Moor Sailing Club (GMSC). See the Calendar. A contribution of £8 (or £4 for those with their own boats) covers safety boat cover, equipment hire and use of club facilites.

Regattas
Scouts and Exploreres may be chosen to represent their troop/unit at one of the Scout regattas.
Parents/supporters are welcome:
The District Regatta in July is held at GMSC, with trophies for individual classes and Troop performance.
The Hertfordshire County Regatta in September is held at Bury Lake, Rickmansworth, with trophies for various classes.
Scouts are also eligible to enter GMSC club races and special events.

Raft Race
The Raft competition in September is held at GMSC, with trophies for the best team, based on construction as well as racing performance.

Boat Maintenance/Work Days
From time to time we will ask for volunteers to assist with boat repairs and sailing club maintenance work. Great for the older scouts to build new, practical skills

Mersea (County Sailing Camp)
District groups take part in the annual County Sailing Camp on Mersea island (opposite Brightlingsea) during May half-term. |

Lochearnhead
Every four years - the next is in 2011 - a District Summer Camp is held at Lochearnhead in Scotland. During the two week camp everyone has the opporttunity to sail or kayak on the seven mile long loch. |

Leaders Days
These days are for adult helpers to come along and have a sail, and learn more about our activities. Any parents who would like to come, should contact their local scout group or email the District Water Activity Advisor .

Kayaking
This year some of the Scout groups (e.g. 1st Tring) organise kayaking on the Grand Union canal or at Great Moor. [There are also number of other County-run kayak events throughout the year]
