The Crong
"The Crong" is a very active Explorer Unit drawing members from parts of Tring and from the surrounding villages.

We're based out of the Ridgeway Scout Centre (where we meet on Tuesdays between 8:15 and 9:45) although we like to get out and about as much as we can.

We're strong on all sorts of water sports, organise fun and adventurous summer camps and plenty of other events and visits to places of interest. We're also active in County competiions (e.g. the Chilterns Challenge), sailing at Mersea Island and the county Christmas bash (held last year at Aroma in Stevenage).

You're really welcome to join us.

  • This is us!
You can click on the image for a closer look.
This was taken on last year's Summer Camp and you can see that we were joined by friends from other Explorer Units too.
  • Coasteering
Coasteering is about navigating along rocky shorelines - somtimes on the rock and sometimes in the water.
Just one of the many water activities we learn from qualified guides and instructors.
  • Climbing
Climbing is a favourite activity on camps and expeditions in particular. As with our other active pursuits, we always have a high standard of instruction.
  • Kayaking
    Always great fun.
We have the opportunity to do this on camp and sometimes locally too
  • Duke of Edinburgh
We have a great record of helping our Explorers complete Gold D of E award schemes.
This was taken in 2009 just before a three day expedition in the worst summer weather imaginable!
  • Laser Quaser
In the winter we sometimes woose-out and take an easy, indoor option for an activity.... like playing Laser Quaser!
