FROSTIES 2010
Frosties 2010

Well Frosties has finished for another year, and a lot to reflect on.

21 teams, with all District troops represented, and 2 visiting teams from our neighbours in Cheddington, led to an extra large semicircle of eager faces at the opening presentation.

All briefed and ready to go and the teams set out to navigate their way around 9 bases over a route of approximately 6 miles. Activities included tracking, observation exercise and scout skills (including a flag break).  Eventually all teams returned successfully to Lees Wood although there were a few nervous moments while a couple of teams were unaccounted for!!!

Then on to the evening meal. Sheena and the catering team had endured a long day over a hot stove and there were a few cases of repetitive strain injury from all the vegetable peeling but they managed to feed 180 (Yes that does say 180) Scouts, Explorers and Leaders/adults.

Next the Night Bases. The Explorers turned up with a number of bases that they had organised, and there were plenty of old favourites as well as new ideas. Thanks to Dan and Sharon for running an excellent set of First Aid bases which included a Resusci Anne. Other new bases included paper airplane throwing and candle lighting. There was also the ever popular Assault Course lovingly constructed by Niall, Ollie and Zoogi. Despite my annual worry of the number of accident forms they could generate they manage to get all participants around in one piece.

By the time of the Presentation the glorious weather (No sign of Frost this year) had managed to hold on for the whole event. The only difference from the opening briefing being that there were lots of tired faces (Scouts may need to try going to sleep rather than having a party at 1am next year). We also welcomed the County Commissioner Rikki Harrington who was able to present the certificates and trophies.

Well done to all team that took part and particular congratulations to the winning team ‘Salmon’ from Tring.

The event would not be possible without the help and support of the people I have already mentioned plus a whole host of others to numerous to mention but you know who you are. So from me a Big Thank You for all your support. Guess we can now start preparing for Frosties 2011
